Yeah don't get me wrong, there are SOME options but VERY few. The borescopes were the main ones I found too. Again, I think this is due to market demand. Those types of cameras work in places where the embedded phone or tablet cameras aren't usable. That's why those solutions were developed. The issue I've realized with them is their focal length or usable distance is quite short. They are intended to view objects that are VERY close to the lens instead of 6+ feet away (at least in most cases).

 

Ahh, good points. I'm still very interested in replacing my main dash unit with an Android tablet, however as far as video options, someone mentioned the use of a multiplexer (potentially earlier in this thread? sorry I don't remember where I saw it) to view more than one camera on your dash at a time. That could be used to view multiple cameras at a time. However, that doesn't solve the issue of viewing external cameras on an Android device, but it could allow you to view cameras on the default stock head unit rather than just seeing the reverse camera alone.

I actually bought a box almost exactly like that, just a different brand. Still sitting in the closet. Never ended up trying it. You can always go the route of using a USB capture card to plug into the device. This takes an analog signal and turns it into digital. Pretty sweet but not all of them work great (so I've been told). I have one of those in the closet too but haven't messed with it.

I'd be interested in learning about the multiplexer you have if you can find info on it. I couldn't find many other options for multiplexers online that weren't really expensive. $50 isn't bad for the Wiseup one I linked...so far that's the best option I've found.
