I'm confused... recovery points

im searched and read othe threads and posts.


Im good on the rear with hitch, the front is where im confused.

Driver side loop i figured was a tie down point, passenger side for recovery. I know a lot of people are replacing them, but i dont have much interest in going crazy. I got a recovery strap so i figured i would check where the points were. Just got 2012 Reg Cab in summer and hadnt thought about it. Now that hunting season is here wanted a strap iust in case.

Is the passenger with a shackle sufficient for emergencies? Or are there options that arent breaking the bank?


Any thoughts or info are appreciated. Been reading all days and head in swimming now.

 

You can usually find the TRD OR recovery hooks for about $50 in the for sale threads. It's way more stout than the little bracket that is stock on most Tacomas. That's what I did. It's great with straps. No shackle needed.

 

Several companies make replacements as well. In case yours is missing or you do want to use a shackle.

For recoveries? No thanks. That's just asking for high energy projectiles. I've used a small shackle in there to pull trees out of the road and the like, but wouldn't trust a shackle small enough to fit in there for a real recovery.

 

Then you wouldn't trust your car? That's full of Bolts.
