When I was younger, this day was usually talked about every year on the anniversary.

Thinking about it, and just how monumentally this event changed the course of history.

My dad was an 18 year old city kid at a football game when he heard the news. He enlisted in the army soon thereafter- his world would never be the same, and the same could be said of many others alive at that time.

Just wanted to put it out there.

Yeah, this is the first year I did not notice a story about a day that will live in infamy.

Even the conservative talk shows give it little to no mention.

I only thought of it looking at a computer screen, saw the date and expected to see some graphic or mention on the Google home screen.

Didn't see any mention, and I was thinking about it all day.

If 10,000 years of human history could be seen in something like tree rings, the time after 1941 would look very different.

For people in the US, from the Atomic bomb project, cold war, space race, personal computers/ cell phones, and the large increases in standards of living, it was a huge event.

Sad it is loosing significance to all of us so affected by it.

Yep, past celebrities, events get lost with time. Something to add to history books. Do they still hand out books in school? This is the only mention of Pearl Harbor on three forums I regularly view. Watching the news a couple nights ago, aired a story of a 95 year old who saved over 30 sailors, using some diving gear he had.

My paper wall calender still has the words Pearl Harbor Day printed at the bottom of the box for 12 7.

This is the only media I have read any mention of the day.

I'd say sex scandals, body counts, and water main breaks make bigger news. The Israel news also got a lot of coverage.

A little of this and a little of that.
I asked my daughter (11th grade H.S.) if there was any talk about Pearl Harbor in her History class. She said no, but there was discussion about Germany and it’s involvement in both World Wars in her German language class.
I actually noticed last year that the Dec. 7 Pearl Harbor media coverage seemed to be less, and this year was even less. Sad. Both of my grandfathers and two great uncles fought in WW2.

It’s sad how soon we forget the sacrifices made for our freedoms. How easily we take things for granted.
