King or Fox?

This is what I was told from a local shop as well. Which is why I went fox

 

For California buyers: Wheelers Offroad. (Don’t have to pay sales tax.)

For non Cali buyers: Headstrong Offroad.

 

In TX
From all my reading it seems Fox is very good with occasional issues and CS is lacking.
King is expensive and has some Quality control issues but great CS.
Icon is consistently failing.
Bilstien is very good but won’t maintain lift and not top shelf.
ToyTec is having 3rd gen issues
Trying to be fair and not bash any company
I, like everyone, just want a quality product for a fair price.
My Dad always told me “You can hear anything if you listen long enough”
That being said, I am sure we all are susceptible to having rogue failure being we are using/abusing products for extreme conditions and Shit Happens... and if it happens to our set up Holly Crap!
I do appreciate all the input.
The decision wont be an easy one

I am sure, but they kinda clash with my lil’ Red Taco

 

Fox has the option for DSC and from what I hear has the best internals. Not so great customer service.

Kings are currently the lowest price and have tons of street cred. Great customer service.

ADS is the underdog but makes some seriously high quality product. Great customer service.

Icon has several unique vehicle specific applications and puts a lot of R&D into the Toyota platforms. Also uses Digressive Valving. Mixed customer service.

That said I have Icons. Over 80K on them and no leaks. Always had good customer service myself. Can't say I feel a difference between the Digressive vs Progressive Valving myself.

 

I haven’t done mine yet, I was leaning Kings or Fox. But the more I read and hear about them, the more I think I’m going:

 

Where does sway a way fit in with these? Never heard or seen much about them

 

I removed mine long ago. It has it's pros and cons, but for my driving style I prefer it off.

 

Your thing says mall crawler, but is that actually the driving style? Looking for the best off-road and best handling, comfort wise it doesn't matter to me

 

I went with ADS. Still need to order the rears before I install them. They asked me 13 questions about my rig before building them so that it’s specifically built for my needs/rig. Ordered mine through Headstrong...

 

Go with King, They are the innovators. They are the ones who put the most effort into making sure they put the best product out there as possible. A ton of money goes into R&D to make them preform, and a lot of effort goes into making their customer service top notch. Also they focus only on off road vehicle shocks. If it sounds like I'm their sales man that's because I was an engineering intern there for 3 years. So yeah maybe I'm biased but I experienced first hand the effort that was put into making their product better than anything else out there.

 

I didn’t really know much about them until recently. I’ve heard from people that have had Kings, and like their ADS better. I think King,Fox, Icon etc all make good stuff, it comes down to preference(and customer service too, that goes along way).

My New Years resolution is to work a shit ton of overtime next year....

Haha that's more of a joke, but the truck does see a lot of mall parking lots. I have 17K miles now and close to 1K of them are dirt. Both high speed and crawling around.

The articulation on the slow stuff is great and I feel it doesn't grab a rut and pull when you're at speed as much. It also rotates a bit more predictably if you're getting it sideways.

On the street; the nose dives significantly more under braking, it's sways more in the corners, and high winds make driving uncomfortable.

I really don't speed and I stay about as far away from others on the road as I can so it doesn't bother me. I've driven more miles in my life without a sway bar than I have with at this point, I don't see that changing while I'm driving a Tacoma.

 

We have property in CO and it is 15 minutes off pavement and we love to explore or surroundings via NFS Fire roads; the faster, the better
