Had a bit an issue this morning that ended up not being nearly as bad as it should have been, a guy driving a small old Toyota Carolla nailed me after blowing a red, (T-bone) in my '17 taco, when i got out, my truck was fine because he directly hit my wheel, I have XD Grenade's stanced out so no damage was done to the body of my truck (luckily) but I did a full 180 spin and my his car is likely written off.

I am wondering unseeable what damage might have occurred, frame looks good so far, thinking damage to the axle and diff may be possible what are your thoughts.

    Facts:
Rear, Driver side wheel impacted around 40km/hr
    Spun 180 degrees
No bed still looks lined up on accurately to the cab

Earliest I can get it in to my mech is Tuesday so let me know what you all think,

    Thanks,
    W

Go over that thing with a fine toothed comb. "There doesn't appear to be damage" just won't cut it with newer vehicles. They're made to "squish" on impact.

Have someone with machines (not by eye) check the frame. Is it still square?

Yeah, I will have my mech check the axel run out and have a peak at the diff and the frame.
Thanks man, hoping for the best

Good luck, definitely make sure they do a detailed inspection of your truck.

Would definitely want to take some measurements via a 4 wheel alignment rack. After checking if its in spec, check to see the distance the wheel is in relation to fenders top, left and right and also offset from the body. As a former BMW tech in the northeast, we had a lot of pothole impacts that caused suspension damage and witha simple “1,2,3 or 4” finger measurement and cross referencing with the other side could tell you right away if there’s something bent.

Umm, if he hit you hard enough to make your truck do a 180 and total his car, it would be a miracle if no damage occurred to your truck (even if you don't see it). At the very least I'd bet your front suspension on that side got compromised somehow (ball joints, tie rod, cv axle, lower and/or upper control arm, steering, etc.). Not to mention possibly a tweaked frame. I'd get that checked over real carefully.

Double check the axle tube for cracks where it is welded to the flange for the brakes. If it is cracked it will be wet with oil. It could also be bent without being cracked. Just my .02

Something absorbed the force. Wouldn't drive it fast or at all til looked at. Interesting to see if any vibes at 60 after inspection.

I'd put money on the frame is bent. It can be hard to spot

Insurance will replace items that may have taken the force if you push them. I had a car rear end one of my motorbikes, enough that when i got off the bike, it stood upright as the bumper of the car had caved in around the rear wheel. no visable damage to the bike except tire, but I made the insurance replace the wheel, tire, wheel bearings and swingarm bearings.
From what you describe, I would never trust that wheel again even if everything else comes up undamaged.

Good chance your whole drivetrain is off alignment, something similar happened to me in an f250 back in 1980 and the rear leaf spring actually sheared right off and it didn’t drop until the next day...have it checked thoroughly
