OK, I know there has to be a way to do this but I give up...

Buy 2 silicone rings for a few bucks and slide them on the knobs for more grip. Not as fancy as the Hondo knobs, but much cheaper.

 

Rubber band stretched around the dial works good.

 

Thanks to another TW member I bought these recently and "installed" them this weekend. At first they seemed a little loose on the knobs but they stayed put for 500 miles of driving and work great.
