Most states its a passing lane, not a fast lane...but courtesy is to move out of the way. Maryland I believe had no left lane for passing law when I lived there, but I thought I heard they actually put that law into effect. IDK. but other than being an obstruction no reason to block the left lane.

    looks like Maryland...lol

With 3+ lanes in one direction I’m ok with slower people in the middle, it makes merging from on ramps easier and is safer for trucks pulling trailers (fewer lane changes for mergers) but as with anything in life pay attention and if it would be wise to move to the far right lane do so.

I don't know about being illegal here in CAL, but in the high speed rush hour traffic conditions, it would no doubt set off a lot of road rage.

A little of this and a little of that.
In my truck I rarely drive in the fast lane. I’m not going to be the guy out there impeding the flow of traffic.
However, I also ride a motorcycle and ride just a little faster than the flow of traffic. Usually I’m in the fast lane on the bike, but also keep an eye out for faster vehicles coming up from behind and get over to let them pass.
I’m all in favor of better driver education.
