2008 Tacoma Pre-runner base model - did it come with a remote?

I recently purchased a used 2008 Taco and I'm deep in the Cheap/Free mods (thanks piercedtiger for the great thread).

I purchased a Remote from one of the Cheap/Free mod suggested links. But for the life of me I cannot get the truck into program mode. Have followed the directions to the "T" 183 (feels like) times to no avail. I've opened and closed the drivers side road enough to wear out the hinges LOL

But I got to thinking, did the base model even come with the remote door lock feature? I looked at the original window sale sticker and it's not listed as a feature.

Anyone know if the base model did come with a Remote Door Lock? Or am I beating my head against the wall here?

 

Is there such a thing as a Prerunner base model? Do you mean 5 lug?

 

Pigpen, ignore my ignorance. But not sure what you mean by 5 lug. But here is a pic of the sticker sheet if that helps.

 

That looks like a non-TRD Prerunner, not a 5-Lug (5 lugnuts on wheel instead of 6). Not sure on the remote, my TRD Prerunner has one

 

Shwaa, you are correct. This is NOT a TRD edition.

It does have the electronic lock/unlock door button on the driver's door panel. The remote vendor "thought" that this the indicator that the remote should work. But I just can't get the vehicle into the training mode.

 

I have a 4x4 base model. I've read they don't have the necessary parts for keyless entry.

 

Yes sir theres a prerunner base model. Ive got one. Its basically just a non trd prerunner that comes with black fender flares and is the bottom of the barrel as far as options go.. mine did come with the convenience package though so it has power windows and locks, but i wasnt able to program a fob remote on mine either

Base models do not have electronics for keyless entry, but the electronics can be added with a simple "plug and play" box. I think it's called a "door control relay" and it is a Toyota OEM part. Look up the member Doogz, he found the way to do it.
