Rookie Detail Kit

Was trying to think of something for my folks to get me for Christmas and I couldn’t think of a damn thing. Then I thought - what about some stuff for the Taco!!!! I typically have done just a drive in power wash - spray wax - rinse free vacuum and pick up some beef jerky and a donut -
So - give the top 5 things to get started.

Let's refrain from getting into "the best" arguments here... there are so many good products out there on the market now.

I just thought I'd post up some of my current favorites to get you started.

These are super soft and work well for a variety of tasks. Nice drying towel. A great "cleaner-wax". Aquapel rocks. All three great products and can be purchased separately. For the OCD... Haven't tried it. Great reviews and lots of fans. A nice tire gel. Great gloss, durability, and EASY.

 

I'm not an expert at detailing by any means, but I've been doing some research on the subject recently. After I got my new truck, I decided to buy some better detailing products and Chemical Guys was always highly recommended. I had been using different stuff from the local auto parts stores and Walmart and the best I found there was Meguiars. I had been using Meguiars soap, clay bar, polish, wax and it always worked pretty well and didn't break the bank. With that being said, I have been VERY impressed with the Chemical Guys products and I love the scents they use. It's definitely more expensive, but I've become a fan. I washed my wifes 4Runner over two weeks ago and it still looks great. Anyway, I'll list what I'm using below.

Use the two bucket method with grates in the bottom of each bucket. I have a soft wash mitt and microfiber towels to dry.

I will probably add some of their other products as I go. There may be better products out there, but for now, I'm pretty happy with how well this stuff works.

 

Its amazing how poorly you realize the cheap shit works once you try quality products.

I highly recommend their Jet Seal. I laid mine in April and its still doing a great job.

 

I have never used the chemical guys drying product but a good drying spray paired with a micro fiber towel is a method I highly recommend and is often overlooked. This way if you missed any dirt or any contaminates fell on the paint the will be lifted by the microfiber and your drying spray will lubricate the contaminate so it does not scratch the paint. I used AMMO products but chemical guys are a great line up for personal use.
