I love these late 70's early 80 Tacomas. The retro blue, orange, yellow, and white paint scheme is probably my favorite although that orange one and cement looking grey is nice too. If they made this body style like this with the blue, orange, yellow, and white retro paint scheme but have it sitting on modern suspension and modern interior then I would trade in my 2017 in a heartbeat. Wish I had the money to make my own.

Don’t think the Tacoma came out till 96.... those are just toyota pickup trucks... I think. ( someone correct me if I’m wrong) I agree on the retro graphics though. They are legit.

Yep, actually called Hilux. Tacoma came in 95.5, one of those half year things. A buddy of mine had a 95 and it looked just like a 94'
    I've had 2 95.5 Tacoma's.

Yea that's my bad. You'e right about Toyota not coming out with the tacoma till the 90's. But yea I love these Toyota trucks. Pretty much indestructible and those engines didn't know how to quit.

No worries... I’m no vintage Toyota expert myself. I’m sure others on here are though.

Oops- 1985!! (I also had a ‘95 4-runner). Yes, the hilux came with badges. What a truck- it was my then girlfriends’ truck when I first met her and we drove it all over backroads Utah and the Southwest. Too bad we let it go, it was a hard choice, but I kept the best of the two of them! :)

My first one was a '73 and it had the Hilux badge. I don't remember it on the '78 or '79 though.

I learned how to drive a manual in my stepdad's 89' SR5. He worked for the power company so he had keys to all the locked off powerline trails and we used to have a riot running that thing back in the 90's

In North America, the Hilux name was retired in 1976.

I have to find a pic of my ‘85!- Bought it used and it had Hilux badges on it. Wonder if the original owner did it. Or maybe it came from a different country. It was very clean and low miles, though.

Now I’m wondering if it had body work? Were the Hilux fenders similar to the ‘85 fenders? It don’t look any different from the other Toyota’s of the time, but I drove a S10 back then and the truck was my wife’s daily driver, so I didn’t pay to much attention to it.

Totally different fenders between the two.
