I feel you! I’ve been studying the last several weeks for my real estate exam. Studying sucks especially if you haven’t had to study for the last 17 years.

 

I've actually been considering pursuing a real estate license. How long has it taken you to get to the exam? Also, where are you getting yours through?

I went through Auburn University continuing education. I did online classes. I left my nice paying job after 20 years. Burnt completely out! Ready for a change! Didn’t take extremely long after it became all I did each day. Lot of information. I just have to pass the end of course exam and state exam then I’ll be ready to rock!

 

Leaving is scary as hell! I had always said I would know it was time and I did. Once you flip the switch to your leaving there is no turning back. Other than money the last couple of months have been great. I was never off to enjoy the Holidays so I’m now off. Been able to spend more time with family and not been rushed. Been more present in the moment!

Don't overdo it and stress out during the test. Advice from a retired Navy Chief Pettty Officer. I did this for my Chief's exam. Go through the text and write down in a notebook the critical info you expect to be tested on (I had 50-60 pages). Take that and reduce it to notes on 3x5 cards (I ended up with 20-30 cards). You will "study" by writing it down. Review the cards to key your mind to the larger content in the notebook or your original textbook. I aced the Chief's exam using this method. Know this may be a bit late to use this method but will help later especially if you use it throughout the 3-4 months of your courses.

Don't overdo the studying. You can lose more than you gain. Take appropriate breaks and relax like Yoda!!! You will make it and have a great Christmas/New Years.

I was doing same thing and still wondering if I made the right decision. I talked with several mentors I was lucky enough to have. One said something the really stood out. He said I was making the decision he should have made 5 years ago. He know felt completely stuck. Said I had plenty of time to recover of I did it now and that he was jealous. Also, had several people tell me they did same thing at 15-20 years service and was tough at first but ended up being best decision they ever made.

Do you have your A&P?

If so, keep an eye on Huntsville for aviation jobs. The pay around here is usually pretty good.

 

Honorable work, but can be physically demanding as you get older.

 

Wait until you're over 50, it gets even harder...

 

yep live and learn! i slept in the cab then next night, got it toasty warm. i dont remember if i had to start it up again before morning.
