When comparing steel body coil-over shocks against each other King is slightly better since they use a cadmium plating rather than a zinc like Icon, FOX and Sway-A-Way. But they'll all rust pretty quick without maintenance. The coating Icon does optionally is supposed to be pretty effective.

That makes sense...my buddies over in the east who have icons really don't do well in the winter. I think theirs started to rust after only a few months.

Wow Accutune article would have been nice when i was doing my research eventually choosing 2.5 Fox Factory Series. I to came to a conclusion analysis each components and materials of Fox, Icon and Kings to determine the best besides... color. Fox was my choice mainly for shaft material, hardness and shock corrosion resistance. Many people forget that a shock is built from various material Aluminum, Carbon Steel, Brass and Stainless Steel all holding a moving fluid that transfers electrodes through the shock to the frame of the vehicle. This non ideal situation can actually cause increase corrosion on various material call cathodic protection. The transfer of electrodes can cause sacrificial corrosion on one material to "save" another. This process increases exponentially in the north where salt is present on the roads.

    Not much stock left.
@splitbolt, thank you for the info. Filthy has some good info.

@Doomsday, thank you. I'm looking to go with Deaver U402 Expedition 2's in the rear and King's all the way around. Still trying to sort out the details on the shocks, so thanks for the info.

Awesome thanks. We have our share of shitty weather here also so if yours hold up for a couple years and near water I'm sold.

I've thought about applying some kind of clear coat to them before installing also.
Just haven't figured it out yet.

Did you notice any lift after installation? With stock leaf or aftermarket?

Almost pulled the trigger on these. It would be a good way to preserve the bodies in the winter. When I get shocks serviced next year I’ll go w/ a pair

This setting is with 650# coils, Dakar’s with overload and AAL. Not sure what you’re looking to do with your rig. Options are endless. If I did it over again I would have went deavers and secondary shocks with TC lowers.

Edit: 2.5” lift front b/c LB

That's brilliant. And so simple lol.

    Nice rig man.

I have Billys and 887s up front. Rear is stock so small reverse rake. Need to even it out.
Ultimately I want solid rig for towing and light trails in.
At first i was thinking just sumo springs for now, and eventually full leaf pack.
Now I'm entertaining rear shocks and small block. Lol.

Thank you. Honestly I just copy everything
    @90yota does. o_O

But in all seriousness he has a very capable rig and I’d like to hear his 2 cents on getting you one and done on rear suspension.

Haha thanks brotha! I actually still need to dial in my rear shocks. I'm still running billies but I have some 12" kings with adjusters coming soon. @stealthmode honestly i would strongly consider leaf packs before wasting money on a block. Figure out how much weight you plan on running. I've ran dakars but the pack I had weren't good for weight but now I'm running allpro expos. A solid setup would be either brand with b110s and timbren ubolt flip with bump stop. Gives you plenty of flex while the rode is still decent. Also need to extend your brake lines if you plan on lifting the rear. I got my initial setup through wheelersoffroad.

I do like the way King mounts the RR on front, but then again that was started by Icon. :stirthepot:
