If where you live has strict emission standards like California I know they only want an engine that is the same year or newer to go into your truck. Granted I don’t know if they can or will check for it.

Out of curiosity since you said you have the ucon, what was your rev limiter set to?

Why don't you try to get it rebuilt, then you can add forged pistons or whatever to stop it from happening again. It might only be a head gasket.

It is possible. Without disassembly, the extent of damage is unknown.

If he didn't use a thick oil, such as a minimum of a 40 weight, and the ring lands broke, I guarantee the cylinders are scored. Which most likely would mean sleeving the cylinder/s.

If rod knock, then very likely that the crank is damaged. A machinist might be able to fix it depending.

Cost versus time. Using a good used engine as a starting platform would save a lot of headaches and unforseen costs.

So does that mean that can built one and mail it to me? I will try to call them and find out.
I live in NY we adapt California emission standard. But as long as my check engine light is not on I could pass inspection. I currently got urd header and y pipe and trd muffler

You know you could have just put a major restriction in your exhaust like one of those "silencers" that come with fart cans that goes down to like 1.5" if u wanted to just hit 12 psi (im guessing that was basically your end goam since you locked it over in "L") or a potato...

Also there is an $800 core on the motor u linked but it would prolly cost you nearly half that to ship your core back, and if you malt it you could build it back better.

@Torspd what is ur opinion on the Brian crower stroker kit for 1grfe

Also I was thinking about a reman engine for now and build my engine later. But the reman company told me there is a vairent on 1grfe is it so? Is 05-11 different than 12-15? They were telling me something about the timing cover? At this point I am really lost now:confused:

I do not know about the timing cover being different. Only the header, for the secondary air injection.

4Runner 1GR will be different, as it has the Dual VVT-I.

I used the Brian Crower stroker crank. LC Engineering can also have one made, here in the USA, for a little cheaper.
