Yeah... not many people in Hawai‘i celebrate statehood day.

 

Thanks for clarifying. And for the record, I guess I was thinking more like HPD is getting crapped on for having to kick all these families out of their only home in tough times. It's terrible, and I know that shouldn't be their only responsibility, so I'd imagine they try to not to give those folks a hard time unless they're told to.

The section in bold is directly what I'm referring to, it's nice to hear you've got eyes on them. I live close to Vland, and that camp is getting much worse, I honestly am scared in my own home and I have never felt that way in my life. A car was torched there last week. There's been a guy looking in car windows around all the neighborhood streets multiple nights over the last few weeks, caught on security cameras. The whole camp almost burned down in the spring. I'd like to ask you, personally, to please keep this area in mind as myself and most of the neighborhood do not feel safe.

 

But go crazy for the day off on it and 4th of July lol. I’ve had my combat vet plate spray painted once. But so did a few other cars in my neighborhood.

 

My plate is a simple state plate. I wasn't double parking, sticking out or parked in any manner that could be taken as 'asshole parking'.
I don't know Hawaii's full history. I have picked-up on people resenting being a state or association with USA. I know one thing for sure, and I'm really surprised this little fact has escaped them: if Hawaii had not been a territory/state, the people would have been murdered/conquered by Japanese, like every other island nation in the Pacific.

Vland is tough cause the Mauka side that they're on is private property owned and used by UH manoa. The Makai side we can do something and we have plans to move them.

Damn dude there’s assholes everywhere. For every one Asshole there’s tons of good people here. You will Be hard pressed to ever find a better sense of community once you get out of the town part of the island.

 

Absolutely, I've had good conversations with some kind hearted folks. I just think my truck is being targeted, I just can't figure out why.

Because it's nicer than others can afford... You know how them haters be... Instead of bettering ones self, they would rather bring down the ones that are doing better. You know, to level the playing field. We all want better, not all of us want to work for it. I'm disgusted by people like that... They want the world on a silver platter, with a budget that can't get shit off a dollar menu... But instead of going out and working hard for it, they would rather steal it from you, or break it so you can't have it... You know what I do in those kinds of situations... I leave notes at the scene, hopefully they return for other business... Forgive them, and tell them you can afford to have it repaired... Sorry about their luck lol

I don't want to start a shitshow, so here: there's a lot to be learned about the history of Hawaiian prior to the overthrow in 1893. the kingdom of Hawai'i had/still has international treaties at least 20 countries. Japan's occurred in 1871.

 

I do need to hit the books because I cannot imagine the USA took someone’s country and not a shot was fired between their militaries. Idk maybe there was and it wasn’t in my school books.
I do understand folks could feel a way about it. I am empathetic to that but I’m also a realist- Hawaii is now a state and there is no way in hell it will/can succeed from the Union. So I guess my final thought is, if it makes people bitter/resentful it’s really unfortunate. If people cling to that and don’t move forward they are doing themselves an injustice.
