I'm looking for good looking wheels that will still be able to use the stock 5 lug tire pressure monitors.

I really would be all for just ignoring the light, but my state requires TPMS to be functional to pass inspection.

I wanted to put 30x9.5 r15s on my truck's stock wheels, but I was told by the tire guys I need at least a 6.5 inch rim. So I returned the 30s for time being while I make up my mind on a wheel, or just get 235s instead.

Finding good looking rims that fit on the five lug that don't require spacers AND have the same angle for stock TPMS is really pretty hard. I'm not too knowledgeable on tires, but I've talked to a few guys with 5 lugs and all of them either had to have spacers or an aftermarket tpms.

And word of warning, 235's really kill your performance unless you regear.

    Just my thoughts

You should be able to have them banded on the inside of your wheels, whichever you end up finding.. Then just use a valve stem to fit that wheel. I had to have mine banded, works fine. Call the Tire shop you plan on going to and inquire about it. They may be familiar with it.

OP, would you be willing to get aftermarket TPMS put on?

Well my goal is to keep costs low as I am already spending a lot on tires. My truck is an 08, so I'm not sure how much longer the original sensors will last...
Anyone have experience with them failing after 8+ years?

I was looking at steel wheel options mainly but now started looking more into alloys. I think banding the sensors may be the way to go.

I don't mean to get off topic OP, but what is banding?

I wasn't too sure about it myself, but after a few searches I think I have an idea.

I see it as basically a big ass hose clamp, that has a bracket on it, that holds the sensor right on the inside of the wheel. That way it doesn't matter what the angle of the valve stem is, because it's not going through the hole on the wheel.

Not mine, but this truck is for sale locally here in So Cal and listed on Autotrader. It looks like these wheels stick out of the fenders. I was actually considering them, but new wheels will have to wait for now.

I just got 235s put on the stockers last week. The 235s are nominally 9.25" wide. I'd think another 0.25" in width wouldn't be a problem with stock steelies, but I'm not the expert.
