Doom 88 I have same color but sr5. Almost going to work at 5 am. Missed by inches, corner of my eye. Deer saw me pulled his chest back I heard his hooves on pavement trying to stop himself, locked them, heart in my mouth. Inches.

Same happened to me, my window was all the way down and I could hear that the deer locked up it’s hooves on the dry pavement. I could have petted it’s head as I passed by. No antlers, though - lucky doe!

There was no avoiding that one! Considering it was a center of mass hit for both the deer and the Taco, that doesn't look like lot of damage. That deer flew about, what, 50 feet?

Road kill deer is good to eat as long as you clean it quickly, the weather is cool and you are close to home. I've taken two fresh ones home for dinner. One I saw get hit, the other was barely breathing in the ditch so I put it down and loaded it up. :hungry: No use letting the poor things go to complete waste.

Edit: Call the law before doing this if you intend to have a butcher take care of it. They need documentation that it was not poached.

Which in Florida good luck. Not sure how you'll get around not having a tag or one out of season if FWC somehow comes across.

I once found a dead alligator in the road that's I stopped to remove from the roadway. I got curious so I called FWC and asked if a person asks to take the gator can they and the response was no, I'm supposed to go throw it in the woods somewhere so others don't call it in. Just having the roadkill alligator in your possession is a felony. Blew my mind that something like that is expected to go to waste even though it was killed by natural selection and not purposefully.

Wow.....he came outa nowhere....scary stuff with all that traffic.

Glad you are okay and no hassles with your insurance.

There is a stretch of road that I travel on workdays....in the dark....where deer are fairly active. I've been kicking around the idea of getting some ditch lights mounted on my truck and wire them so they run with the high beams. Half of my commute is via interstate and in a few months there will be major delays there due to bridge reconstruction. My alternate route will be all through wooded backroads. Gonna light it up.

I can see where having the GoPro running is a great idea. Seems like it would be handy footage for police reports & insurance claims.
