He quoted me $150 for the pair.
After it was all done and his shop installed them, I paid $212 installed.

"Remove it" Do you mean you peeled off the "chrome" from the plastic and it was just black underneath?

I had mine vinyl wrapped about two years ago and they are still holding up well.

I recently saw a truck that had the bumper caps sprayed with bed liner and I really liked the look. I was thinking about trying something similar. I've read of people using Dupli-Color Truck Bed Coating, Dupli-Color Rocker Guard, Rust-Oleoum Truck Bed Liner, 3M Gravel Guard or even VHT Wrinkle Plus Paint. Does anyone have experience with these inexpensive DIY sprays and whether or not they are a viable option?

Nope, remove it as in take that shit off and replace it. They are chrome caps that can be removed. I bought black plastic caps to replace it with.

Did you paint the black plastic ones you installed? I just received some black ones and they appear to be primered. Do I need to paint those or? Haha.

AE396C1B-0CD1-461C-806F-4A756B14BBCC.jpg I chose the dip method. 10/15 mins of prep with a 5 yr old. When complete it was “picky wife approved”. 807CF278-D014-4F5D-A36E-16010F4338A6.jpg This was very fresh. It flattened and looks great. As stated above;”picky wife approved”. Cost me $10, looks like $1Mil. Full disclosure, slight texture look to it, can be solved by warmer can and a little more patience. But very happy I went this route.

After getting my taco the chrome was a huge eyesore for me- went the body matching route (figuring if it doesn't work out I'll just bed liner it).
All in only cost about $35 and took an afternoon, and evening re-assembly ($35 if you don't count the beers....).
Based on the threads here, and advice, the process I did was:

Scuffed it then used adhesion promoter (3 coats), top coat (4 coats) and clear coat (2 rounds of 3 coats each).
Looks fantastic, really happy with it, but I hope it holds up...skeptical....
