Bilstein Experts, just received a pair of 5100's. Are the lower cushion retainers (washer) built into the dust boot? The shocks came with only the plastic dust boot, spring seat and top nut. The boots do have a .25 inch thick aluminum washers on top molded into the boots. Installing them on an 2010 Tacoma. Thanks

When installing, there should be, from the top of the boot and up: washer-rubber isolator (insert through top of shock tower) rubber isolator-washer-top nut. So the shocks should have came with two rubber isolators and two washers as well. Id say to call wherever you got them and ask for those parts. Is the aluminum washer youre talking about built into the top of the boot? If so, thats just for the boot. That rests on the retainer on the shaft, and then all of the washers and isolators sit on top of that. hope this helps

This picture shows the isolators and washers it should come with. Even though it says for dodge, its still the hardware you need for the tacoma. Pic is just for reference.

Thanks Drew. Yes, its built into the top of the boot. All the images and parts lists (Bilstein 24-239370 5100)
are just the shock, spring seat, dust boot and top nut for 2nd gen Tacomas. The 3rd gens. the lower isolators and retainers.

Hmm weird. I have a 2nd gen and when I bought the shocks off of 4 wheel parts it came with all of the washers and isolators. Im sure you could buy just a washer/isolator kit off of 4 wheel parts, toytech, bilsteinlifts.com or somewhere like that. Probably will be cheap too. You could also re-use your washers and just get new isolators from a local parts store. Although I always think its best to get new shit when you install new shit. Im sure it will be cheap and easy to find. New parts go together much easier haha

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!
Your Bilsteins do not come with the isolators and washers. You either need to buy the kit or use the old isolators and washers.

    Here is the kit.
