Either way your probably going to have to cut something whether it be plastic or cab mount to run bigger then a 265/70/17. You may be able to get away with it if you found the right wheel set up. I dont know the specs on the trd pro 4runner wheels but im thinking you would still need to trim. Maybe with some awesome alignment work and your after market uca you could get away with it but id rather just chop it and run the 285/70/17.

There you go thing is going to ride sweet. Remember to get yourself the timbren bumpstops in the rear and front they will prolong the length of your suspension and will smooth out the ride. It will prevent your shock from bottoming out. Its worth the price

I have the Boss kit with 285/70/17 and had a small amount of rubbing in the front of my front wheel wells when compressed and at full lock. Used a heat gun to massage the plastic liner and I’m good to go. That said, I’ve got issues with my front coil overs after 4,400 miles that we’re working through with Toytec, but I’m not happy at all with it/them.

Not sure yet. Bad clunking noise from the coil over in the front end. Mechanic put on chassis ears and said it’s definitely the coil over. They’re being sent back for evaluation by Toytec, but they’ve said that they “might” be seeing an issue with them on 3rd gens. I’m not going to get too negative until I know more, but the warranty process isn’t ideal for a daily driver that’s now out of commission.

Awww I see. I was about to say because I’ve had mine on for about thirty thousand miles now and have never had a problem on my second gen. That sucks man I hope everything turns out ok for ya.

Yeah, I hear good things, so I’m hoping it’s just a bad set like it could be with any other product. I’ll give the benefit of the doubt until I have more information and my experience is complete before throwing opinions one way or the other.

I've been waiting until I have a final resolution, but here's the latest:

Truck has been at the dealer since last Monday (they gave me a loaner T4R at least). I've spoken with the dealer service manager, as well as the Toytec guys that are handling my case directly - including the guys that cover this forum. I will say that so far everyone on both sides (dealer and Toytec) have been super cool about everything, and responsiveness from Toytec has been great. Here's where I'm at right now:
    • It is suspected that I have a bad front passenger coil over. This has not yet been confirmed, so I can't say if that is in fact the case, or what the cause would have been. Note that my truck only has 4,400 miles on it and has not been off road yet.
    • The Toytec Boss suspension is made by RadFlo - so they currently have my coil overs for analysis or rebuild (I'm not sure the status there yet). Toytec said it might take a week to finish.
    • In the meantime, Toytec did send my dealer a loaner set of coil overs so that they can get my truck back to me.
    • Toytec's warranty process is that you need to get an RMA opened to send the shocks in, then RadFlo does their analysis. It is NOT typical that a loaner set is provided, so you typically have to just wait. If you have a defective product, they will replace it.
    • Toytec said they see some guys jumping trucks, etc. which causes failure that is not covered - I totally get that. They were cool about it and noted that they understand that's not what I'm doing, but they still have to go through their process. They will not issue a credit or refund, so once a result is determined, the best I'll get is another set of Toytec Boss coil overs. At this point, I'm fine with that.
    • Toytec also noted that they are NOT seeing a trend with 3rd gens having issues with the Boss setup, but rather they're seeing folks with 3rd gens cranking the compression on the Boss set above what is recommended to get extra lift, and causing a failure from that. That makes sense to me.
I should have my truck back today (hopefully) with the loaner set on. I'll report back on how those are working, as well as what the final result is once the whole process is done.

Typically they are set to 2.5"s unless your is a 3rd gen taco. Then the lift is 2"s on yours.

The install instructions state that you shouldn’t pre-load them beyond 1” of threads showing at the top. That would be 2.5” at that setting I believe. Good way to double check if they were shipped that way.
