    A pillar... I opened the passenger door and just gave a little push at the bottom of the pillar and rattle stopped. Just a thought, easy to try.

    OP, I have the same problem on the downshifts and occasional surges. Unfortunately, some of the surging at low speeds is gonna be due to the fact that the reaction between your foot on the gas pedal and what happens with the accelerator is computerized... my service rep and I have the same truck and he's been completely straight with me from day one. Toyota is working on additional software to try to fix the problem, even though you'll get 15 different responses from the guys on the customer care support line. I'm not completely satisfied with the conclusion that this is simply a software issue, but it's better than nothing. My plan is to stick it out for three years. If the truck isn't better, I'll trade the Tacoma for something else. You want help, not a bunch of people giving you shit. That's why Tacomaworld exists. Hopefully this helps.
