My 2008 Taco had clear coat failure down the middle of the hood and the middle of the cab. I am now noticing a lot of 2nd gens with this flaw. Any ideas on if this has been corrected in the 3rd gen?? And why does it only occur in a 1' strip down the middle of the hood and cab??

IDK if the 3rd gens have enough life just yet to answer that question fully, but my paint / clear coat is holding up really well FWIW. I do baby it (even though I do get it dirty plenty) with weekly applications of Spray Wax and/or Quick Detailer with a thorough detail 2x annually and I've had the truck for just over a year. Paint still looks new aside from a couple of random small rock chips from trails I need to clean up

Mine looked great for 7+ years then it started, like psoriasis.

Yeah, I have a buddy w/ an early 2nd Gen that has similar issues w/ the hood that surfaced after probably 8 or 9 years. Reminds me of the crappy paint jobs on those late 90s/early00s model Hondas that all drive around with chipped psoriasis paint jobs.

I've got 12 year's on my 2nd gen, never an issue. It gets 4 to 5 coat's of wax a year. We get 103 degree heat down to negative 10 where I live, so it's seen a variety of conditions.

Texas sun is hell on auto paint. But I wouldn't think a 2017 should have an issue already.
