New member stopping in. A few months ago I decided I wanted to get a truck. As much as I like the MPG and easy parking of a sedan, the practicality and capacity of a truck appealed to me. I didn't want a full size so after looking at some options and doing some test drives I decided on a Tacoma. While googling questions about the Tacoma I was directed towards this site a lot, I liked a lot of the mods and the videos so I ended up joining. Currently looking at used gen 3s but will most likely be picking up a new 2018 in the next couple months.

    Edit: because grammar not good.

A few OE parts from fancy trucks
That is a 3rd gen also...........

There is a lot that can be learned here regarding packages/options and some money savings tips, assuming you can figure out your goals for the truck in advance.

Just know that in addition to your $35k truck, mods can quickly add thousands to the cost. Be sure to pick the right ones for you!

Welcome and good luck with your shopping!

I should have said, I'm looking at used Gen 3s, but will most likely be purchasing a new 2018.

I looked a "previously owned". The depreciation on a 2-3 year old Tacoma was not enough for me to go used. I bought new. Welcome to the community.

    This and that...
Went through Carmax and was really happy with the service and price. They gave me better pricing than the largest dealership in Denver. Plus they are able to transfer a vehicle from another Carmax, even out of state.

Went used. Those low month to month payments are nice when saving up for upgrades. A used Tacoma under 30,000 is barely broken in.

Premature truckulation is a serious condition. The easiest fix is to think about trucks you don't like, like a Dodge or Chevy. The more permanent fix is to buy a Toyota as soon as possible.

Warning, the buying of a Toyota Tacoma has been known to cause the following conditions:
Euphoria, excitement, giddiness, fast heartbeat, mod fever and asset depletion. Get medical help right away if you develop some of the following symptoms: hallucinations, leaking differential or leaking from any body parts, loss of coordination, severe dizziness, severe nausea/vomiting/diarrhea, twitching muscles, unexplained fever, unusual shift patterns or unexplained howling. A very serious allergic reaction to this truck is rare.

Before you shake hands with a dealer see what prices other people are getting on the 2018s so you don't get stuffed.

Could save a bunch of money and look around for a Gen 1 in good condition with low miles. The money saved could be used to buy the goodies you want. Oh, and welcome!
