I need to replace the rear ABS harness on my truck. I went to my local wrecking yard and they only had a Tundra rear axle I could pull the harness from. The main harnes plug on the frame was comparable. I noticed the ABS sensors were slightly different.

Will this work or did I waste 20$

    Frame plug that is interchangeable:

Grey plugs are tundra black is tacoma

    The differences I can tell:
    - tundra plug is grey square and the Tacoma plug is black oval
    - the mounting hole on the tundra is oblonged and the Tacoma hole is circular
    - the bottom face of the tundra sensor has a circle on it and the Tacoma sensor has a notch out of the tip

you need to ensure the ohms are the same and the tundra abs sensors activate at the same rate as the tacoma.

need to find service manuals for that or hope someone here has done this.

since the tundra.4runner,tacoma share some of the same platform, and 99% of the sensors are interchangeable, I would say you are good.

Personally, I would do my testing before I threw them in.

If you got a scanner, throw them in and read live data for individual wheel speed

This is what I'm planning on doing. Just curious if anyone else has experience with this

And the fact that Toyota wanted close to 700$ for the harness and 200+ for each sensor I was willing to take the risk

It's not like you wasted a ton of money, just keep looking till you find your same truck. Can't the wrecking yard guys find you one from a different yard?

Or just install the harness, snip the tundra sensors/connectors off and butt connect your tacoma connectors into the tundra harness. Do you need the harness all the way dpwn to the connectors?

which means the sensors operate under a different signal. The Tundra has bigger brakes and a bigger sensor ring. which would make sense that the numbers are different.

I don't think it will work. just for shits and giggles you could install them and see if it all works.....the ABS light will stay on if it is still not working.

Only one in Alaska that I can find with a 05+ Tacoma. They wouldn't let me pull the harness off the Tacoma axles they had already pulled because they were sold with the axle

    Oh yea, that makes sense.

Use your tacoma sensors and connectors, wire in the tundra harness right at the connectors ( that fit the tacoma sensors)

Tundra wires are a smaller gauge wire than the Tacoma wiring. I was trying to re-pin the plugs

Shrink wrap easier to use and seals better than tape.
