I had a frame replacement under warranty and got the truck back about 2 weeks ago. Just today I noted a puddle of oil under a part of the transmission near the front under the driver's side. Not sure what to call this - transfer case? Front transaxle? The leak is at the junction of two parts of the case and there's RTV squeezed out where it's leaking. I don't have an account elsewhere on the web to host photos, so I can't show you the ones I took of the leak. Timewise it's related to the frame work. Was it caused by the frame work or is this just coincidence?

more than likely coincidence, your truck is 10 years old.

You can attach a photo to your message here, without needing an external host.

Typically the mechanic doesn't separate the engine from the transmission when doing a frame swap.

Where it says "post reply" at the bottom of the page, right next to that is a link that says "upload file" you can upload it directly from your computer or phone.

OK. Here are the photos. Thanks for the instructions on how to upload pictures. I missed that button the first time around.

That's the front differential. ;) It is not disassembled for frame replacement.

Are you sure it's a leak? If you haven't done so already, spray some brake cleaner on there, wipe it clean and dry, and see if the seepage reoccurs.

If it is in fact a leak, it looks to be coming from the CV shaft seal. That is a more plausible occurrence, since the CV shaft needs to be popped out for frame replacement, and the seal may be damaged in the process.

not sure what the frame replacement entails. but its VERY likely they had to pull CV's out to drop the diff out of the frame and likely damaged the seal putting CV's back in.

Yes, axle seals are supposed to be replaced on the front diff for the frame swap. I’d take it to toyota and harp on them

Are you sure the axle seals are part of the kit supplied with the replacement frame?

Maybe they did replace the seals and drove them in too far. There have been several TWers that have driven the seal in too far after an ECGS bearing install and had a leak.

I had it to the dealership today and they replaced "a seal" at no charge to me, saying they considered it to be warranty service. It was a three hour wait, if that's any help to those who are familiar with that type of repair.
