My hood was shaking like crazy at highways speeds, I went to investigate and found a cheap fix for .89 a foot. The 3/8 tubing I bought at ace but Home Depot has it also.

I did both sides not pictured but y’all get the idea.

The fix is like getting a shot of Penicillin to cure the clap. Yes, it does fix the problem, but it could have been avoided by using a condom. So, instead of trying to control the shake by working on the hood, fix the shake by balancing your tires. Like preventing the clap, it will do you better in the long run

Took me all night to do 200hp injectors, headstuds and 2nd gen turbo swap.

Need to install my sump and fass 150 and order my duel cp3 and 2 more bottles of don Julio 1942 to keep me warm while the wife and kids are at grandmas.:bananadead:

I will have me another 98 shortbed ext cab 5speed manual 12v in my lifetime. Ive been around the performance diesel world for a number of years, and damn there is nothing like the cold clatter of a 12v in the morning.

I do love a 12v it’s hard to find one that hasn’t been all ragged out and half ass worked on.

Last time I had one I live out in the sticks so no neighbors to wake up, now in the city I couldn’t use it for work waking everyone up lol.

It’s not from the tires, it’s been doing this for awhile even at slow speeds just annoying at highway speeds when the sun hits the hood scoop just right and strobe lights ya.

I should just replace the gasket but hey 100 bucks for a gasket or 1$.

The hood on my '09 DCSB had some shimmy at highway speeds when I got it--adjusting (raising) the bump stops at the front corners cured a lot of it, placing small bits of old 3/8" HP fuel line cut in half in the midway back "wedges" got the rest of it:

Another take on the hose idea is to use backer rod :https://www.amazon.com/Closed-Cell-Backer-Rod-Roll/dp/B001OBTZ1E

It is closed cell polyethylene, a little softer and more resilient than the hose. Vinyl hose will take a set in a pretty short time and no longer hold up the gasket. Backer rod will stay springy. If you spray it with silicone it will slip into a gasket easily. It's primary use is to fill large cracks prior to caulking. You can buy it in diameters from 1/4" up to 3/4" at any home depot type place, and you can get it bigger online. I keep it around for various projects, even caulking :D. It's cheap too.
