I have a 2014 with the entune head unit non jbl and I was thinking of getting something else for better sound. I was looking at these on crutchfield,, the pioneer mva-av290 $189, and the pioneer avh-201ex for $199 , does anyone have these in their truck? how do they sound with stock speekers? should I upgrade speakers too? or what other head units should I look at for better sound experience?

I have the model prior, the Avh-280bt. Im quite happy with it, It does everything I need it to - connects to my phone via Bluetooth, has ipod connectivity, and options for backup camera (which i still need to do).

Sound was ok with stock speakers. However, the oem paper cone speakers aren't worth a dime. Once i installed my component speakers up front, sound was immensely better.

Even if you don't want to do component speakers, some 3 way coaxial up front, and 2 ways in the rear would be an improvement.

    This

Keep in mind u can gut the front speakers, cut out the spider, screw a new 6x9 into the old speaker housing, and bolt right back into your doors. No need for adapters.

The stock speakers are crap. Replacing them is your starting point, get the best you can afford. Feeding the stock speakers with the best available head unit /amps on the market they can still only produce crap.

You will be amazed how night and day of a difference there is the moment you change from OE paper (JBL or not) speakers and the headunit, to all aftermarket. You'll wish you did it sooner.

Ahh shoot. I believe I went standard speakers with external tweeters. I can't totally remember but I'm pretty sure that's what I did.
