Anyone have a measurement between their crossover pipe and the passenger side cylinder head? I'm installing headers and I'm going to assume they might end up closer than stock, but curious to know what the distance is anyway. Thank you! (3.4 V6)

Just to add to the madness, as soon as I can get another DD I'm swapping in a fucking manual in my double cab.

    This is the ultimate.

I know Tim (CO TW) scored a double cab whose body is in great shape. He plans on swapping that body onto his supercharged 3.4 4x4 with a 5speed.

A double cab swap onto my truck would be the only thing I do of the sorts.

What should've been available from the factory. Sometimes you gotta take matters into your own hands :)

Ah yes the good ol' keep it and mod it or sell it and buy "what you want" - I remember this coming up on forums when I was modding guitars a lot. Sometimes what you want isn't what the world wants you to have lol. The comment was made without knowing who @BartMaster1234 aka the bj wrestler is.

Got this thing off the hook :)

Ha funny you mention that. I rebuilt the electronics on a buddy's Gibson. When I wax-potted the pickups, all I had was the Vanilla scented wax to melt down so when I was done with it, it smelled like a damn bakery. He stripped up the strap mount so I had to re-drill a hole for the little stud it mounts to. I hate that they use MDF for the bodies it's so unforgiving - wish I had one of those threaded standoffs or riv-nut I could use. I ended up shoving toothpicks in the holes to give the screw leverage to mount, worked great. I have another friend who wants to build a replica of a 1960's Fender Stratocaster and asked me to do all the electrical on it from scratch.

I used to work a lot with electronics and circuits, that was my hobby before wrenching. Did a lot of PCB work and SMD/BGA soldering, I re-balled the solder points on an old GTX GeForce 9800 GPU that died by throwing it in the oven for a couple minutes. Can't believe that fixed the damn thing.

Kind of why I like doing automotive wiring, I'm no stranger to it since I've worked with 12v/24v electrical for years.

I think I mentioned this to you before, but that's basically what I was into since elementary school until I started college. It builds good skills that translate well to automotive work. Especially patience. I still have a 9800GT that never had the BGA cold solder issue, but I did repair a Macbook for a friend once that had a 8800GS or GT that did that. Oven was a no go because the MOBO had other components that would have been angry, so I used alum foil to mask off the area around the GPU and used a heat gun to get it to reflow. Only reason I don't necessarily like wiring in whole new circuits in cars is because I know how anal I am about it and I take forever making sure it is safe, expandable in the future, and routed nicely.

It's cool how that kind of stuff can translate so well, had a good time on Overclock.net too before the sold out to another forum owner. Had some powerful systems, now I mostly just use laptops :/

How can I forget, my biggest money pit before wrenching was PC gaming. My god I put so much time and effort into that hobby. I've built something like 20? computers for friends and family. The reason why I'm so anal when it comes to wiring on my truck is the amount of time I'd spend cable managing a build. The number one neglected thing on a good PC build is cable management. I would spent 30 minutes actually building the computer physically, and two hours cable managing it. Lemme dig up some pics.

I barely gamed. I just liked having a PC that could do it. I sucked at MMO's, all I did was play Flight Simulator X, Euro Truck Simulator, TF2 (the only MMO I was moderately good at), and tons of single player free-roam games like Fallout and GTA.

CL for $90 - it's allegedly Fiberwerx, but it's going to take some clearancing to make it clear the cowl over the firewall.

Didn't even realize they made 1st gen hoods with scoops. I saw someone take a stock hood and fiberglass'd a 4Runner hood scoop onto it.

Glassworks used to, this looks a lot like their design, but if the guy I bought it from is right, you could call up Fiberwerx and see if they'll make another for you!

Huh. Took a look at Fiberwerx's site. They make 1st gen to 2011 front end conversions - strange.

lol welcome to the world of fiberglass - you can get a full first gen Tundra conversion clip and get a 3rd gen clip for a 2nd gen from McNeil. I like the standard 96-97 clip though.
