2017 TRD Offroad DCSB. As the title says, from a stop it feels like there is a vibration up to 5,000 RPM, then is shifts smoothly through second gear. I dont think the tires are slipping since traction control isnt going off, but is this axle wrap that I am experiencing?

    WOT launch? More than likely.

Check out this video at 4:23.
You can clearly see the front portion of the spring lift up. It relaxes a little when he lifts off the gas.

It might be somewhat exaggerated due to a possible lift block, but still...

Just a normal tight merge ahead and you dont want to be stuck behind a certain car, let off the brake and get on the accelerator real hard type launch. Mine doesn't lurch like that, just vibrates a bit through the rpms then smooth through 2nd gear. This does not happen in 4hi, only 2wd

Where are you feeling the vibration?

Feels like it is coming from the back/driveshaft

Okay...your comment about 4hi vs. 2wd had me wondering if there wasn't something going on in the suspension/steering up front.
Have you ever had it not happen under the conditions you describe or is it consistent?

Several things I would try, separately:
-try launching in S3, if automatic
-put some wight over the rear axle
-add some spring clamps around the front portion of the leafs to reinforce the main leaf

I can replicate it pretty reliably, never happens in 4hi. Front feels fine as well as steering, almost more a feeling in my seat. This isnt a severe vibration in the truck or anything dangerous, part of me wonders if the wheels are just slipping enough to feel it. Although, it replicates axle wrap as others describe it. Is this due to the leaf suspension design?

    Leaf design definitely axle wrap.
Tacoma leafs are pretty flexy or weak depending on your point of view.
Some manufacturers will even put a half leaf on the forward top portion of the leaf pack just to address axle wrap.

Got it, thanks for the clarification I was not aware of that. I assume this is not worth bringing up with the dealer since it seems like the design of the truck causes this?

5100's all around, OME 887 with 1/4" spacer, icon 3 leaf aal. 255/75/17 BFG KM's on 4runner pro's. Rigid led pods. Debadged and tinted.
From what I have read, the majority of the trucks have this issue, I'm sure the dealer will say its "normal." My truck shook really bad when stopping abruptly (stop light changing). When I swapped to my C range tires, it actually dampened the shake considerably. I think its a combination of the soft shocks, weak leafs and soft tires that let everything seem so live back there. Now that I have an AAL with stiff 5100 shocks out back, the vibrations are all gone.
