    10 minutes depending where you live and you should have good heat . Cars and trucks warm up quicker if you drive them rather than sitting and idling
    Have you changed the thermostat yet ?

    I let my truck warm up for about ten minutes before I make the attempt to move it , however its also minus 45 up here in the great white North . You can watch the heat gauge slowly climb to the center position .
    Does your heat gauge on your dash reach the center position ?

    Where do you live? What is the temp outside when you are warming up the truck? How long are you idling the truck at cold start?

    Temps here have been hovering around zero F plus or minus ten. I give the truck about ten minutes to warm up in the morning, so warm air is starting to blow from the vents. After work I don't give it nearly that much time - usually just enough to brush off the new snow and get myself situated in the cab.

    Something's not right. At -30 I only feel slight resistance. I'm not looking forward to those days, the new rental is drafty.

    As the truck warmed up, it became more free. I'll check out the hydraulic lines and slave/master cylinder when it warms up a bit. Probably need to flush/replace my brake fluid anyway.

    Since -40 is the same on both scales, we can all agree that's cold.

    I highly recommend the block heater. You'll experience faster warm up times. Also, cold oil will warm up quickly in an already warm engine. I only use mine when it's really cold, but I notice a huge difference. Until then, let her warm up for 10 or 15 minutes. I also use Mobil 1 synthetic 0W-30 for easier cold starts. .

    My solution in this frigid Canadian weather was a command start and a winter cold front , Two- 1200 cold cranking amp batteries .
    Block heaters are pretty much mandatory up here . Minus 40 here as well
    I also carry a compressor to fill flat tires , spare battery , booster cables and two of those mini booster packs in my glove box
