Def wasn’t in. 4wheel I didn’t engauge it all day yet. N made a bunch of turns before this with no 4x4 bind, this happened going str8. But yeah do hate when that happens even tho u don’t need to I usually reverse when I disengage my 4x4. My tires are all same size

Today it’s just shifting kinda funky best way to describe it is it dosnt know when to shift and what gear to shift to. Im crusing at 40mph and it all s sudden acts like it’s gonna shift but stays in the same gear n it’s not the converter locking n unlocking. My guess is a solinoid on the trans or sons kind of electronic. I fixed my terminal m check all my grounds. Can I unplug my ecm and clean those connections saftley. A way to re learn to trans maybe.

If your battery was disconnected you ECM is going to take some time to relearn

Disconnecting the battery won't clear the transmission memory. It has to be done with an advanced scan tool or techstream.

    Thank you for that!
I scanned it real quick n seems like all the info I’m asking for. Really appreciate you taking the time to lend a hand. I will go threw that thread n see if I can solve my problem, hopefully so if not I may be back. Just need to get this truck running good again to get it sold.

Last question, I’ve owned the truck since 55kmiles now there’s 80k I do regular maintence n have changed the spark plugs once (due for another change). I also will be cleaning out my valve body, that was great info I wasn’t aware of.
Back to the trans, previous owner had the truck being serviced by Toyota, would they have done a transmission flush/change within that 55k miles, or was that to soon? I have not changed trans oil. Only my diffs (which I do sometimes as often as 10k if I drive threw water). I do have lines on the breather ports that run to the frame but water still finds a way in, especially when I drive in waipio valley in a river for a mile or so (no choice that’s my uncles drive way, water almost touches the trans). ⬅️⬅️ For everyone hating on my lift I’d like to see a 3” suspension do that, whatever u do don’t open your doors and good luck with your electronics. I have some on my front diff n my rear locker goes under but I sealed all the plugs and actuators just for good measure. Just blabin on couldn’t belive how many guys come on a thread to dis somone rather than help, must have a lot of time on your hands.

Do a drain and fill on the trans, make sure the fluid level is correct. I'd start with that first and foremost. Also clean the MAF and throttle body, engine issues can cause poor shifting.

    Trans service ?
If we back up a couple years , toyota dealerships were telling their customers that the trans never needed a transmission service and was good for the lifetime of the truck so I highly doubt your truck has seen new fluid
In the older manuals , it was recommended to change the fluid at 100k
This has now been changed to 60k
Considering your lift and larger tires , it wouldnt hurt to drop the pan and filter , have a peek at the magnets in the pan to get a general idea of how much wear has developed .
Welcome to Tacoma World . Its 40 below zero where I live . Too cold to go outside .....Here to help where I can

Holy shit 40 bellow that’s crazy! I’m cooling off in my car In a/c right now at night, It’s like 80 very humid. Def will take a look at the trans fluid n change filter. This is my first newer Toyota I’m starting to move towards diesels. Waiting for Toyota to make a diesel in a Tacoma then I’m in for life. Still got the 2014 tho. I’m going towards old sku diesels cause there’s not to much electronic if at all. Still love my 22r’s they will always have a place in my heart . Thanks for the help I will get back after I check the trans and clean throttle body. Mahalos everyone
