So, I work for an auto parts company and had thrown some Wagner OEX pads and Centric rotors on my truck a while ago. All was well until mid summer when they began to squeal. I was with a Wagner rep today to ask about the noise and he gave me a LONG explanation of why they were terrible on my truck. In a nutshell..Ceramic pads do not handle heat well. My truck, being lifted with larger tires, sliders, armor, etc weights more than a standard tacoma. OEM is also semi metallic. He told me the pads glazed from excessive heat and that is why they are squealing at low speeds. He recommended OEM pads (Beck/Arnley) or the severe duty. Also told me sever duty pads could give me a grinding noise.

    Anyway..FYI before purchasing brake pads.

Your saying your driving style was not getting things hot enough to keep the pads clean

I have close to 50,000 miles on a set of Ceramic pads might very well be my truck is loaded heavy almost all the time .

That I have yet to have problems

Ceramic DOESN'T handle heat well. That's why they make ceramic cooking dishes, that's why the tiles on the space shuttle were ceramic... where is the sarcasm font?

Ceramic brakes are generally quieter but that doesn't mean yours don't have an issue.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.
Must be the same article Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati and Porsche are utilizing for their questionable judgement as well....

You might want to do a little more research besides referring to a “tech” who works for a company that deals with brakes and then you can’t even understand his explanation well enough to translate the knowledge. Generalized statements aren’t helpful and come off pretty lazy when there is tons of contrary arguments on this website.

Start here with this well written explanation and use this an example for next time.

Can’t do that, but he wasn’t defending product from a return. It’s a paid I sell. I have no reason not to believe him. I’ll leave it at that.

    Four questions..............

When you installed the pads, did you follow an established bedding process?

    How many miles since installation?

Have you examined the pads/calipers to determine if there might be other issues at play here creating the noise?

Do you experience brake fade during any driving situations?

    1.i did not.
    2.About 25k
    3. I haven’t.

In my defense, these are pretty high end pads / rotors. I can’t imagine that “Jane Smith” who comes in for brakes on her Rx330 Lexus follows a bedding process. Or anyone who buys a new car for that matter.

Average life for ceramic pads is 25 to 40k miles if memory serves.

Bedding properly maximizes what the brakes can do, failing to bed them may but doesn't necessarily cause problems.

I was thinking I am happy with 25,000 miles on high end brake pads

The better they grip the faster they are going to wear
