    Hello everyone!
I apologize if this thread has been talked about already and if it has I will delete it.
I've always wanted a Tacoma and I'm finally more than comfortable with our finances to purchase. I'm in search of my first Tacoma and hoping that you all can help me out with your never ending knowledge living in WA. I'm currently looking at a 2017 SR5 DCSB 4x4 and was quoted 36,752 OTD with an MSRP of 35,582 and was wondering if that's too much or should I pull the trigger. Being in Washington means we have to deal with the dreaded tax and was fortunate to have a dealership near me with an 8.4 sales tax.
I was so close to purchasing it but I have to at least ask the people on here who know more than I do about purchasing a Tacoma. Thank you for your time.

An unusually high amount of pinstriping.
Is that is fully loaded? If it is then, to me, I would say 36,752 OTD sounds good. I bought mine a year ago and paid 39,000ish OTD (trying to remember). That's for an off road, but with out some of the bells and whistles such as no sunroof, back up sensors, blind spot, or tonneau cover.

I honestly don't know what comes in a fully loaded SR5, it did have the slight bit of red interior, all weather floor mats, and the tri-fold tonneau cover from what I inspected in person.

I bought a 2016 trd or, 4x4, auto with everything for about $39k OTD back in Feb of 2016.

I appreciate your input guys. Luckily I haven't talked to the dealers yet. What do you guys recommend I should counter offer?

Never go to one dealer. Get bids from
multiple dealers, use the written bid at dealer A to reduce the price at dealer B. Use the reduced bid at dealer B to counter back at dealer A. Repeat. Leverage the dealers to underbid each other and you will get much further than making counter offers on your own,

I think that's too expensive for either. I think I paid around ~38k OTD for my quad cab V6 TRD-OR automatic but with every option except for jbl (only dealer option was mud guards). I could have got another 500 or so, but I was getting a good deal on my trade in as well.

It probably was, but went to three different dealerships and all were with in $500, and basically wouldn't negotiate. As one dealer said, he started the week with 10 Tacoma's and when I was in on a Sunday they had 3, so they didn't feel the need to negotiate.

Sheesh. Where did you go to? I see you're from Buckley (I finished my army career at the national guard armory in Buckley); did you try Titus-Will? I talked to 3 different dealers online first and ended up going to Michael's in Bellevue while at the same time negotiating with Renton Toyota. I could have saved another $500 or so if I wasn't picky about my color combination and trim level, but since it was a new car, I wanted to get what I wanted. I had to wait over a month or so for it to arrive off freight, but worth it.

Try extending your search area. I had good luck with Royal Moore in Hillsboro back in the day.
check out edmunds.com and look for the dealer invoice price and try to get as near that as you can.
Talk to fleet managers if possible rather than sales people, fleet managers aren't looking for the commission like sales people are.
Things were different when I was buying, people were more apt to wheel and deal with me due to the market, and I had auto brokers that were thirsty for business (also helps that I have insanely good credit). My dad is about to buy an F350, and he's finding the best deal is with Costco Auto Program right now - better than AAA, brokers, anything else - even looking into other states.

Too much. I think I paid around 37.5k OTD for a TRDOR with everything but JBL. Call multiple dealerships, walk away from them and let them fight. I called 3 dealerships and had them get me the best deal. I could have knocked off another 500 or so if I wasn't picky on my color combination but there was only 1 inferno configured the way I wanted in our state under a 3 month wait.

Costco doesn't give the best price. It's the same as using truecar. You start with costco/truecar pricing and work from there.
