So I recently purchased a 1997 Toyota Tacoma 2.4L RWD for a member of my family and It was running great for a good few months then they decided to put a Cold Air Intake on and it still ran for a few weeks but then they where driving and it died. We took off the Cold Air Intake and it was fixed! It started and ran fine but just recently they took it back and it died once again! Had it towed back and it started for a good 30-45 minutes and died! Tried started fluid, checked for vaccume leaks but we couldn’t get it to stay on for more than 10-15 seconds or even start! Anything is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Welcome to tw. Not a big ffan of colld air intake. They pull air from a hot engine bay. Did you check your air sensors and throttle body? Either is bad on booth of them. Is it throwing any engine codes. Did you check the spark plugs. Fuel pressures.

Hey sorry for the late reply! Thanks for the feedback, No I haven’t checked the throttle body or fuel pressures, It did throw codes but they were fixed when we changed the intake but they are back but haven’t had time to check them, Thanks for the response i’ll get back to you soon!

Update! Checked everything was gonna clean the throttle body but went to start it up and it fired up, What i’m thinking is that it could be an electrical problem, this happend last time where it started up but after around 45 minutes it just shut off and wouldn’t start, Could something be getting hot and failing?
Oh yea and there was a code but it just said it was for the engine light

Fuel pressure regulator or if a fuel line is too close to a exhaust it could heat up n cause a vapor lock. Fuel pump not pulling properly or fuel return line plugged. Faulty plugs or wires or coils. Plugged cat. Faulty cat sensors alot to check with those symtoms. It could be a combination of things. Get a obd scan tool plugs it in and do a live feed while driving, monitor anything you can. Might see it come up without terowong a fault code.
