Hey everyone! I’ve been lurking on these forums for the past few months while debating on trading in my Silverado for a Tacoma. Well last night I made the jump! I received an offer I just couldn’t pass up.

With that said, my Tacoma doesn’t have remote start and I’m in Utah... so it’s a must have for me. I’m looking to do a 2-way for notification and at least 1500yards. I’ve received quotes ranging from $380 to $500. Dealer I bought from said stay away from factory remote start as it’s garbage.

Also, I passed on the premium package (didn’t see value for $2,600) so I’m looking to upgrade the sounds. I don’t need anything crazy, but the stock speakers suck... even for Bluetooth phone calls it odd and crackles.
    - I’ve called a few places and everyone is all over the place. One location said just replace the speakers and add a 45-watt amp (all Alpine... $575). Second place said to change out entire head unit... it’s $500 alone and I don’t want to do this, I like the Tacoma’s setup.
    - I’m going to a third place tomorrow that supposedly did a great setup that didn’t break the bank.

    Basic truck info:

    Appreciate your input, Thanks!

There is no factory remote start. Makes you wonder what else they lied about doesn't it?

Add this option to your shopping list. http://www.kbvoodoo.com/shop/remote-start-kit-for-toyota-tacoma-2016-2017

Spend some time reading in the audio forum. You might find an option there that at least gives you direction in what to ask for, instead of just salesman's recommendations.

    Welcome to the forums!

    1. 12volt solutions has a remote start system thats plug and play, and has pretty good reviews.

    2. If you're feeling up for it, replacing speakers is really easy. Just remove the door cards and get some aftermarket speakers from walmart or Fry's (not sure if they have one where you live) and as long as they're the same diameter, it shouldbe as easy as a couple of screws and plugging the new speakers into the existing plug. Then just install the doorcard and your good to go. if theres alot of rattling from your doorcards, just pick up some foam from a hobby store and fill in areas of the door card where they rattle to create some buffer.
