Was hoping someone could clear this up for me. I just noticed that when I turn off traction control, I see that it is off on the dashboard, after about 5 seconds the light goes away. Is this by design?

You can only have it off under 30 mph. It turns back on if you go faster than that but it'll turn back off if you slow down below 30. Could this be what you are experiencing?

I thought if you held it in for 3 seconds or so it went off completely and didn't turn back on? Seem to recall that being mentioned on some thread. I guess I'll go try it out right now. BRB

That is true. I was just making a guess at what OP is seeing.

Some literature on traction aids on Tacomas. It's perhaps more dense than expected.

This could very well be the case, but I don't recall when I fall below 30 MPH. I will do a little testing and see.

I will do some testing with this as well.

So based on this thread, if you are in 4H you cannot totally disable it. Again, I need to test it out.

    Thanks for the quick feedback.

I'm back after a dinner run. It was 5 seconds for me, not 3, and Traction Control stayed off to at least 55 mph. No idea about the 4wd mode though...

Yeah so given that you probably still get ABS with ATRAC on. Just not while the diff is locked which makes sense. Carry over from that other thread.
