Yeah in NC I had electrical heat on the coast and in the mountains. Had foot and a half of snow once for a week and no power it sucked. Keep the water dripping out of the faucets it helps strange but I learned that in the South before I learned it in the North. Bet my gas bill next month will be higher than any electrical bill I had in the South for either winter or summer though. And January is usually the worst have hit $600 before. Shit the rafters just popped from the cold and I jumped, hurts to move that fast. Trees and wood in homes are starting to pop sounds like they are exploding.

Need more water flow. About 10 years ago had to replace the outside faucets with Freezeless Sillcocks when it got real bad here. Still have the sheetrock cutout taped to the ceiling where we cut it out to sweat it out to replace it :anonymous:

I’ve learned the hard way. On well I try and conserve but showed the wife need to have a stream. Me,a plumber, with frozen pipes doesn’t look good :anonymous:

Good morning kids, another cold snowy day,16*,5 “ overnight. Going to help the neighbors put there lawn and leaf equipment away. They are older and I have been after them to get it done. All the gear is in the garage, there 2nd car is in the drive buried in snow. The gear will go in the shed, after I clear a path, clean the car off, put in the garage. This was an hour job, now its a project. They are not as sharp as they used to be, I will probably be the same way,:annoyed:. Stay warm kids, coffee is done:bananadance:.

When I graduated from boot camp at Great Mistakes it was in the twenties below and they had us wrap towels around our mouths to help preheat the air so it wouldn't freeze the lungs. Should have been my first clue that the Upper Midwest can be a tit bit nippley.

Driveway is half way done but needed more coffee. And to feel my face again, frostbite advisory until noon tomorrow and windchill -32. Really should dig out my face mask. Damn temps are going the wrong way. Guess we hit the high of -7 for the day already.

It does. This year hasn't been that bad for me, even with it being this cold. I'm in better shape than last year because I now workout 6 days a week:thumbsup: I don't now if that has anything to do with it:notsure:

Never heard that before. But my home is 100yo, probably done popping:D

Morning all. Like everyone else, it's cold up here. I'm supposed to get a dusting to 1" of snow today. MIL is staying another day to avoid driving in it. I think today is going to be oil change day on the truck. Other than that, not much else is going on.

    Morning all
Still trying to deal with the mom thing. Her mind suddenly took a turn the last month or so and has started to go fast. She can't remember anyone but me and my Brother and when I showed her a picture of my son, she didn't recognize him. It hit me hard last night. Going downhill physically I can deal with, but when the mind goes...a whole lifetime of memories go with it.

Be careful with the weather that is amazingly cold.
