I talked to an installer of Opticoat and he recommended against anything but hand washing to preserve the coating. He might have been incorrect. Or is that a consumer grade product and not the same?

No I still think hand washing is recommended. Opticoat I believe is consumer and professional. There are a lot of different ranges in protection. Same with the ceramic pro so maintainence and resilience/protection vary.

Welp here she is. Detail shop took a picture for me and then I did one on base on way home. Truck feels like butter its slick to the touch, absolutely love it. Will keep everyone posted with how it holds up. They said either 2 bucket hand wash, quick foam cannon or even a touchless wash is fine. Once a year they'll do a maintenance check on it, comes with the package and first wash in 2 weeks is free as well so they can double check their work/how it cured. Overall was worth the money, hopefully will keep my truck's paint decent for the two years I'm stuck in the AZ sun.

A friend of mine has it on his truck and swears by it. Everything just rinses off with a hose. I've been thinking about getting it but not sure I have the $$$ right now.

Im really considering this too. There's a place only a few miles of where I work, that does ceramic pro. So (if done correctly of course) this would eliminate any need for paint corrections?

I've always just hand waxed, we have a cheap orbital polisher, but never used it much. I've been looking at buying a nice orbital and the pads, all that. Do that paint correction, was/sealer thing a couple times of year. Well that's a couple hundred right there.

My biggest issue is time, I work 7 days in a row shift work, lots of 10-12 hour days. And my truck is black, if this would make it easier to clean/ keep clean, I'd be all for it. That and I don't know if I want to learn how to polish on a brand new truck.

Edit: also I got the "glass coat" option from the dealer, would that affect anything? It's supposed to have a warranty too, and they did the interior.

Glad to know you guys are happy with this. I'm going to be setting up an appointment within the next week or two to have this done. Little bit of sticker shock at first but I feel like it's worth it to protect the paint as well as it does.

No. Only paint correction will remove swirls.
