285s or 265s with stock 16” rim’s and 3” lift on 2015 SR5?

I’m going to be putting a 3” Rough Country suspension lift on my 2015 SR5 V6. I plan on keeping the stock Toyota 16” rims and I’m torn between upgrading from 245/75/16 to either 285s or 265s. I’m just wondering if anyone knows with certainty if I’ll be able to pull off the 285s with the 3” lift without having to trim? I’d definitely prefer 285s, but I definitely don’t want to have to trim or add fender flares. I’ll settle for 265s if I have to, but I’m just wondering if anyone knows if the 285s will work without trimming, removing mud flaps, etc? A 33” tire is definitely my preference. If anyone has advice I’d appreciate it. Thanks!

You will have to run spacers with stock wheels and trim for 285. 265 should fit without trimming or spacers.

I say go 285. Don't quote me but i believe 285's on stock wheels will rub the uca's without wheel spacers

That’s what I was thinking. My father in law knows way more about mods than I do and he’s assuring me that the 285s will work, but he’s also a Chevy guy. My gut is telling me that he’s wrong so I was just looking for some confirmation.

I run 285's on an aftermarket 16" wheel with no problems. i did a cmc just for peace of mind. i also have an aftermarket front bumper so it gives me a lot more room up front. i can post pics of my setup if you need

Not to be rude, but he is wrong. Even if 285's don't rub your UCA's on stock wheels (and they likely will) you'll have to do a CMC at a bare bare minimum. 265's are the biggest you can do without cutting. 285's will work indeed, but definitely not without further parts/cutting.

Please do more research as well and don't put Junk Country on such a beautiful truck. 5100's at a minimum. Contact Marie @HeadStrong Off-Road buy once and cry once

I just stepped up to 285 nitto terra grapplers and have the trd beadlocks with a little more offset. Each truck is different. I have a plate bumper and only had to remove the front mud flaps but if I wheel it i will have to trim. I have SPC UCA's also so that helps alot.

An aggressive 265 will look good. I ran 265/75/16 duratraks for three years. The nitto is less agressave in the 285 so the difference in actual size was minimal. Much depends on the tire choice.

I love my 265/70/17's have no desire to cut, trim or whatever just for a bigger tire.

Agreed. If I didn't have the front plate bumper i would have stayed with 265s.

If I ever upgrade up front it will be an aluminum Pelfrybilt so not a lot of added weight.

Why not 255’s? Narrower than 285/75, but you still get the height and “look” of a 33” tire.

Until you look at the front or rear. It is an option though.
