Best way to haul kayaks

    I plan on getting a 12ft kayak what's the best way to haul it I have a short bed and getting a long bed isn't an option thanks

    They have decent "temp" racks for your bed, or get a cap with a Yakima/Thule set up. Depends on your budget and daily use.

    For longer than 12', I'd get a simple 2 bar roof rack and put it up there. Or for a real simple solution, pick up a couple of those foam kayak blocks, put them on your roof, put kayak on, open doors, strap it down, close doors....drive off & enjoy.

    Shame on me i forgot about this thread i created lol, But i welded up a bed rack you can see on my profile pic. I had the the kayak strapped down to it, a OEM roof rack also makes it a lot easier and gives you a little more peace in mind. I don't have any pictures with the kayak on it but I hauled it from Sacramento to Lake Tahoe with confidence.
