When I stop on a hill I need to have my left foot on the brake. If I brake with my right foot by the time I switch to the gas pedal the truck has started to roll back and makes quite as noise. Is this typical?

Is it a springy kind of noise? My 2nd gen does this and i have yet to figure it out. Releasing the brake with your left foot while mashing the gas so you don't roll back works, and is also good practice when offroad.

    So stock.
Yup, typical. It actually happened to me yesterday on a steep paved hill.

My '18 holds the brakes in a hill for about a second so that you can get on the gas and clutch.

You must have a Sport, I think for 2018 that is the only Manual Tacoma with it.

Traction control is happening. Camry is FWD and won’t slip as much, your 06 didn’t have the same traction control system. Pickup trucks slip on hills.

    The future is here.

When I roll backwards on a hill, in the half second between brake and gas, I get a full lurching abs stop accompanied by beeping. I get it atleast once a day.

Interesting experiment, find a hill without any traffic behind you and see how far it will roll back before it stops itself
