I have a 2017 bearded Taco, utility package, no chipped key. Question: If I set the headlight switch to DRL or regular headlights, will they turn off automatically when I shut the truck down or do I need to remember to turn the switch to off every time I shut down and exit the truck?:help:
P.S. looked at the manual but it doesn't seem clear to me. Maybe I'm getting senile. :mudding::notsure:

Mine do but I run a 2014 2nd gen. Start your truck, turn your lights on, shut off the truck, get out, close the door, lock truck. Lights should go out by themselves.

You should have a chipped sercurity key just not a keyless entry. My lights turn off after automatically not sure about the drl lights but if I leave the headlights on they will turn off.

Sin in the driveway for 5 min and try it?

On my truck there are options in the head unit for that. Not sure if you have the same thing in the SR package; play around in the menus and see what you find.

You know, that's excellent advice, but I'm laying on the couch in my warm house(cold here in North central PA) having put the Taco in the garage after plowing the snow and pretty sure I didn't return the switch to off after having it turned on to the DRL position when I parked it. I'd rather ask you guys for an opinion than lift my sorry, old ass of the couch to go check. :ohsnap:

My '04 base Highlander and my '13 poor man's 5 lug Tacoma both turn off the lights by themselves. All the lights, regardless of setting. Of course they come back on when you restart the truck.

It would be a shocking state of affairs if yours did not.

Maybe that model doesn't turn them off for you? Although I'm not quite sure what the features of that model are? Hipster built?

My SR lights go off on their own, but I use the DRL as my default setting.
