Is there really a difference between autos and manual floor mats?

I need a set asap so far i have seen a few options but dont really want to bite the bullet fpr the weather tech, any other options?

The weather tech and husky liners are slightly different for a manual vs Auto. The Manual is a little different so the clutch doesn't hit the floor mat when shifting. People have modified the floor liners to clear the area for the clutch to move freely.

As far as I could determine, only option for driver's seat in a manual truck is Husky Weatherbeater part number 13961. At least, without modding the mat as SuperBad mentioned.

Bingo!!!.... thanks i was thinking it has to do something with the middle console but after seen different pics they both looked the same.

    Your explanation makes perfect sense.

Yes they are different, I've had both auto and manual tacomas, 17 and 18. Passenger side fits fine minus the 18 has the turn thingys on the floor. Driver side auto mat doesn't work very well with the clutch, you get very small movement space compared to one's that are for the manual. I gave my beloved husky liners away when I bought my 18... haven't ordered new ones yet, seeing how well the Toyota all weather's are since they were free.

the mats are different. I took delivery of an 18 TRD sport, MT, and the all weather mats that came with the truck said "for automatic transmission" on them. I had to cut out the area of the clutch pedal, because when pressing the clutch, the mat would come back up with the pedal. they are ordering me the correct set.

Not sure if the Husky X act contour is available for the MT but if so, highly recommend! I replaced the stock all weather ones and couldn't be happier.

Same think happened to me but the fit near the transmission tunnel of the drivers side was awful
