For many years my OEM 17"s were starting to show their age. They started to peal and corrode.
While I only used them for the winter right from the start, it was time to try a new look.
I had them powder coated (baking and everything)
They cleaned up really nice. I painted the caps myself with a can. I used the lid of the can to cover the emblem so it wasn't black. If I didn't like it I could always go back over the whole thing with black but I do like the silver emblem centre compared to all black.

Blacking out OEM rims seems to be a new style especially for winter rims. I have not seen any Tacoma's in my area done like mine... Gloss black with silver embem so I thought I would share in case others are looking for reference.

    2008 TRD Sport 17" rims.

Looks really good. If you don’t mind, how much did the powder coating cost you?

It cost 350CAD however as a returning customer for some Nissan rims I had done the cost came down from there.

That’s exactly what I plan to do with the stock 16’s that came with mine. They are peeling and corroding. I bought some 17’s from a ‘14 sport with some decent tread left on the geolander HT’s which are gonna be my summer set up. Thanks for posting!
