If you had to choose. I've did my homework, just looking for more expert opinions, thanks.

Of those two: P238. It's a better firearm. No need to overthink it.

    No mods whatsoever!
Can't comment on the Sig, but I bought a Kahr P380 over the Kel-tec, Diamondback, and Ruger. I put trijicon sights and a stainless steel guide rod on the P380. Glock hadn't come out with the model 42 yet. I picked up a Glock 42 as soon as they first came out and really like it. It's a little bigger than the Kahr and that's what I'm carrying as a backup/off-duty.

Love my P238. Easy to conceal with shorts on and an IWB holster.

Heck.. I use a Sneaky Pete holster when I have to wear a dress shirt and tie and no one gives me a second look (they think it is a phone case).

I would second the G42 if it was an option. Heck, while we're going off-course I would also suggest a G43 as it's only slightly larger/heavier than the G42 and gains so much in terms of ballistics & handling.

Thanks, that's why I put this out there. My heart is not that set on either one and I know there are a lot more knowledgeable people out there then me on the subject. I welcome all input.

Hey everybody, thanks for your input. Sig it is. But get this, out of the twenty models offered by Sig of the P238, only two are allowed in CA. Any variation, as in different colored grips, slide etc. (witch are only cosmetic). changes the part number and are not on the CA approved list, - very frustrating.

I bet its the loaded chamber indicator stopping most for CA legality no?

I have a P238 combat for my bug in a factory sig holster. The holster has a backer so it looks like a iphone plus and not like most other pocket holsters.

The P938 9mm is just larger enough that I would not want to pocket carry, where the P238 .380 is the perfect size for that.

That did not occur to me. The counter guy at the gun shop just talked of color scheme variations. I'm going to a different gun shop tomorrow and will inquire about that. I guess I'll end up modifying it to get the gun I want.- kind of a let down.

The saga of the Sig. Went to a different gun shop and they told that the reason only 2 of 20 models were allowed In CA was that Sig did not want to send out two of each model to the state for a test that would end up destroying them. Sound like b.s. We do that all the time where I work, materiel testing, weld test, and any number of qualifications test. Can't buy the one I want in AZ because you have to reside in the state where the gun is bought/registered. So I bought the Cal legal model and will modify. So I think machspeed is right on this one. Merry Christmas to me.

Its a bummer on the CA legal models being so limited, but it gives you a chance to make a real custom.

I only learned about CA legal gun rules thanks fo Gander Mountain trying to offload CA models here in MI. I had to order a P226 when they had a bunch in store because of 10rd mags and California required features.

I love my Sig P238. Unfortunately my wife loves it just as much...so I'll be looking for a new CC piece soon. But for a .380 it's definitely the most enjoyable one I've ever shot -- it's one I'm more likely to take to the range and practice with, which is a very important factor for me.

Now that I'm in the market for a new piece I might try out the P938 as well, but I do like the pocket-carry size of the P238.

I was in the market a while back and, as I recall, some users complained about hammer bite with the Sig. Reviews otherwise were good. Try one out before your buy.

I've got a CW380-I put Trijicon night sights on it. It's my choice when I want the least size/weight to carry. I've never had any functioning issues, even during the break in period, like I've heard of. If size/weight aren't a consideration, I carry one of my 3 Glocks-43, 26 or 29. Looks like I'm the odd man out. Hah

A lift, some wheels, some tires, some performance, some cosmetic and then audio.
I choose the P380 > P238 because I don't like the exposed hammer and having to run it cocked and locked. Sure the trigger is better on the Sig but these pocket mouse guns aren't fun range toys for me. It's simply to pocket carry in the summer time in shorts or tight jeans. I went with the Kahr for these reasons.
