For me it's the opposite. I hate heat so I won't go anywhere near Florida, Texas, California, Arizona etc. I hate the month or two we get of 85-95f weather lol.

I always see and hear people complaining about the cold and saying they are going to move but never do? What's stopping them? I hate the summer, heat humidity, bugs, to many people out, ect.... I heat my house with an outdoor wood boiler which gives me another reason to go outside (cut firewood). You can always dress for the cold, but you can only get so naked in the heat!

Auto starts are frequently added on by dealerships for us northern folk. It is a big selling point!

In Winnipeg it was -29 Celsius this morning. I never plugged my truck in. Started. Sounded a bit rough

We get cold weather about 0°F but it's only for a little while at a time not constant throughout the whole winter. Our winter temps probably average in the mid 20's

Charged the battery over night and had it load tested this AM. the battery failed.

Don't know if the cold killed it or was just defective.

Going to replace it with a Northstar after the dealer checks it out, as is and fixes the other issues.

As for auto start, I would not own a vehicle that did not have one while living where winter is so vicious.

When I lived down south did not care about auto start.

Mine was purchased and installed when I bought the truck from the dealership new.

You might want to check out Odyssey batteries as well. Used them before & performance was outstanding.

    Very thing I say haha.
I can put on layers to be comfortable in the cold. Can only take off so many and still not be comfortable in the heat

    Not enough to list
Probably just a bad battery. My 14 Camry hit 30k miles a couple years ago. The battery literally took a shit at 30k miles, I think it was something stupid like 30,040 miles or something. I could not believe it. Fast forward, I now live in Alaska, went to a school for 4 weeks, came back and the truck started up with 0 hesitation. So far it has 22k miles on it. I have noticed that if I leave the radio on, truck off for a while, the battery does discharge rather quickly. I will be looking into Deep cycle ones sooner or later.

My OEM battery died after only 8 months, dealership replaced it on warranty.
Complete opposite experience for me, anyone I know from a different country living here is hard working,
Growing up in Saskatchewan you get used to the cold winters but 5 or 6 months of it can get kinda old.
BC's climate is better, a couple of months of winter so you can get your snow fix.

Not as bad here in Iowa but similar. -16*F last night and noon right now it is -8*F. Pretty sucky weather, I hate being stuck in the house. Can't go work in the garage, can't really do anything outside... just stuck in the house.

Kind a mutual complaining topic here, "cold enough for you yet?" Will be countered by "hot enough for you yet?" when it is over 100*F" with unbelievable humidity this summer. Keeps the tourists away anyway, if it was nice all the time then everybody would want to live here.

FWIW I have had good luck with Interstate batteries.

Truck sat out in -15F for a few days in Minnesota and fired right up like a champ. Clutch petal was all sorts of sticky but warmed up after a few miles and was fine. I’m actually pretty impressed how quickly it started pumping heat out too!
