Being from the East and heading out to Moab showed me what real dust is like. Damn air filter was fucked even with my ghetto snorkel putting my intake up higher on my fender. I can definitely see the benefit to them. Another reason too is with no inner fender liners you are basically kicking water right up into your intake even with small water crossings. It's very vulnerable with no fender liners.

    Stuff. Also things.
Shit, I still have dust in my cab from the Moab trip!

When it’s dry out here, the dust is like talcum powder. It gets everywhere. And in the mountains, you frequently deal with water crossings all season long. I aborted a run up Halfmoon Creek just because I still have this stupid CAI and I didn’t want to even take the chance of ingesting water at the first deeper crossing. People will throw out the #EAF hate, but they do have some practicality. Whether or not it’s worth the cost is up to the owner.

I'm interested to see if you go through less air filters. I change mine every 1000 miles, and that' about every 2 months. Not alot of mileage, but the filter if stuffed with dust.

If your setup ends up working well, I'll be pulling the trigger on a safari

We'll see. Need to go buy a new filter soon anyways. I'll probably keep my current filter and clean it out as best I can. The new one will be for on road, the old one for off road.

Truck is all back together. Pretty stoked with how the Maxtraxs mount came out. Also, now that I've painted the rack semi-gloss black I really want to repaint the bumpers soon.

For homemade adjustable clevis pins, I'm very happy with them.

Thanks! Still thinking about fixing the grill. Best price I've found for the GrillCraft has been $155 shipped.

I like how GrillCraft has made it super simple to have a mesh grill. Cut the old grill out, drill a few holes and bolt it in. A bunch of the TW guys in NorCal have had great success with GrillCraft and I actually like the way they look. I haven't looked at HomerTaco's selection of mesh. Probably should do that and see if there's any I like.

Grillcraft product is a much easier installation then my Mesh product.
Mine requires the satoshi mod to install, the grillcraft you just chop out the center guts and screw on.

Finally got around to getting a good portion of Winter maintenance done. New brake rotors, brake pads, brake drums, brake shoes, inner/outer tie rods, bellows, and even a new brake caliper for the driver side. Also flushed the whole brake system while I was at it. Been driving around with only 3 brakes for who know how long. :anonymous:

No Tundra brakes because I have 15s for rims. New brake caliper wasn't that expensive. Got $25 back when I turned in the old one. If I have another seize up, I'll message you.

Ha! I went with Moog Suspension Parts. Moog is a good brand, haven't heard many complaints and they're fairly cheap on RockAuto. Also with my truck being almost 17 years old I have no real reason to go OEM unless I wanted it to be OEM. If I had a new rig, say only a few years old, I'd be buying OEM.

Surprisingly, OEM was cheaper than both moog and any other TRE really. Plus I just feel better about putting Toyota spec'd parts on this rig. Don't know why, but it feels right haha

Guess I'll keep that in mind next time I need TREs. I don't really care if I have Toyota parts on a Toyota. My end goal for my truck involves ripping most of the Toyota stuff out of the truck anyways. :bananadead:

For the outer tie-rods Moog is just fine. Inners may be a different story but if you have to replace the steering rack you get all new OEM inners anyways
