What are you 2wd guys replacing your factory tires with? I have an SR with the base wheels and want something a little more aggressive. I do a large amount of highway travel so I'm not looking for something esembling a cat of nine tails. The goal is all weathe magic.

Probably stick with the steelies as the filling.

Man, I was hoping to hide the fact that I'm stupid. Glad that's no longer a problem.

I live in MS, near Memphis, TN. It snows a little, rain is average and asphalt hills are few. I don't plan on towing more than a riding mower, if at all.

    Pics are welcome here.

I put 265/70R16 Goodyear Trail Runner AT on my SR. I really like them. Quieter than the factory Firestone’s and they seem to have very good traction for my driving. 95% on road all weather and 5% “off road” going to campsites and at the farm.

I will change to Michelin Defenders when my factory tread wears out. Long life, even wearing, great in the rain, and good in icy/snow conditions. My old Ranger 2wd hydroplaned with every tire until I switched to Defenders then it was stuck to the pavement.

They also have great puncture resistance. The only tire I've been able to run all the way down to the wear bars as I live down a rocky dirt road that cuts tires up badly. Defenders are tough enough to run till they wear out. Most tires get to half tread and get cut up.

A coworker just put his 3rd set of the Michelin AT2 on his Ram with about 170k miles on it a few weeks ago. He swears by them.

Michelin Defender LTX. Changed last week from the Goodyear adventure tires. The Defenders have better turning characteristics, silly smooth ride and very good snow traction due to the siping.

I am really interested in the Continental Terrain Contact AT tires. Sorta gives you that Michelin look and feel but $35 per tire cheaper. I've always heard good things about continental but have yet to purchase any of their products.

    I like those.
I wanna eventually replace my OEM 245/75r16’s on my stock SR5, and the 265/75r16’s that guys are putting on... look crowded in the fender well and too much rubber... for my tastes.
How about a photo from further away... side view and front/rear view?
    Thanks

    Ok, check this out.
My 2012 2wd Tacoma came with Dunlop tires - I don't remember which model, but they were 15's.
I'm in Northern Cali and commute I5 Modesto to Vacaville 200 miles a day, no snow & moderate seasonal rainfall. Ideal conditions for a tire.
I rotated them religiously and got 95k miles from them - honestly. They weren't dangerous bald, but definitely were ready to be changed. It was coming up on winter, so I wanted new ones.
The local tire store was blown away and I told them to replace with the exact ones. They tried to give me something else that was in stock, and I said no way, order them. The next set had 92k on them when I totaled the pickup just a few months back.
I was just getting ready to have another set ordered.
I've never gotten that kind of mileage from a tire.
Take that for what its worth.

    Too few to list.
If you want to keep your mpg, I suggest staying with the 245/75R16 size. I know Falken Wildpeaks AT3 have 245's in P rated which weights about 38-39 lbs. OEM 245's weighs 36-37 lbs. You want to keep the weight down as well. The oem steelies are 28+ lbs. If you can swing alloys from an SR5 or Off-Road, they are a bit lighter.

Happy to say my stock tires did just fine on the unusual 1/2" of ice we got this week (no snow...just ice). Traction control ftw. That was the only thing I was worried about when I bought this SR. Better than my wife's fwd Mazda 3. I had no weight in the back either. I wanted a true test of the vehicle. Still want better looking tires next time though.
