They are just painted, but its paint meant for the outside so its pretty durable.

There are a few different sizes, but for a shovel and ax you want these...

The base plate is 4x7 like most hi ift jacks. As you can see from the pics, it fits lengthwise fine, but needs to be out 2.5" to clear the circled part near the tailgate.

Ahh ok i see what you are wanting to do now... haha. sorry sometimes a picture is hard to paint with words.

I mean you could always get a longer mounting bolt for the rear mount, get a couple nuts and a washer also.

Once you have that find out how far out on the bolt that the jack needs to mount to clear, thread one of the nuts to that point on the bolt, slide on the washer, slide on the hi-lift, use the 2nd nut to hold the jack on the lift (wing nuts work great also for this), the washer will act as a spacer to hold your lift off the back tailgate area. I used this method on my universal mounts before i designed the hi-lift mounts, it worked great and i didnt have any problems.

Yeah, I figured the universal could be adapted to work, but now I'm kinda looking at your hilift specific mounts....how far out do your Hi lift specific mounts stick out??

You can do the spacer on either of the mounts, but i will get a measurement soon.

^^^ Thanks. Let me know what you find, please. I'll bet it is right around there. So long as its close, I could always space it a tad more with a few washers or a nut or something.
