Took a road trip in my Taco soon ofter buying it.

Both of my knees are ruint and overdue for replacement according to my witch doctor and the the 2nd opinion ortho gurus.

My grinding knees are the very reason I bought a new truck to start with. There wasn't a full-size truck that blew me away after driving a midsize 4x4 for the last 10+ years. I made it to the Toyota lot and test drove my Tacoma and I knew it was a done deal. Knees are easier to command on entry and exit....the ride is more comfortable...even at 6'4".

My last truck had me limited to short trips before I had to get out and stretch my legs.

This one performed comfortably enough for me to run it 311 miles........nonfreakingstop on this trip. Freaking amazing to a guy with tricky knees.

Here is my normal one-way commute to work........1/2 is neighborhood drive-by driving......1/2 is rolling hills interstate.

I find tire pressure to be a huge factor in mileage. The stock wranglers seem to yield the best mileage at around 37 psi, much higher than the 30 psi that Toyota recommends. And as temp drops, that 30 you were running in the summer is down around 25 - 27 which will drop you a solid 3 to 4 mpg compared to the 37 psi they run best at. I have no doubt someone on here will respond that 37 psi is way overinflated and will wear out the center of the tire faster, yada yada yada. I don't believe 37 is overinflated but time will tell and I'll take my chances with it.

I drove 7000 plus miles in less than 3 months on my 2017 trd off road long bed. I averaged between 21-22 when on the hwy. I recently rented a Suburban and drove from NC to Texas and I averaged 24. I was surprised how well it did for being such a big vehicle.

Alright I actually calculated mine with the 6% off my speedo is, I got 17.58 on 85% highway driving with a 2” lift and 285/70/17 tires. A little better than I thought but not the 23-24 I was getting before the lift.

Total agreement on tire pressure being major factor on fuel efficiency.

I'm still driving on the stock Firestone Destination LE tires and running them at 35psi.

Gonna take a nose dive when I go with Destination MT2 rubber prior to next deer season, lol.

I averaged high 21's to 22's. However, in the fridged cold North East, I have been down in the 18's & 17's

Im glad to know its not just me getting really bad MPG, i get about 15-16mpg highway. And alot less city. 2”lift and 275/70/17s. Those heavy tires sure do bring the mpg down.

Interested to see everyone elses mpg with lift and heavier tires

2017 TRD OFf Road DCSB 4x4... only real functional mods are bed extender and spidertrax 1.25” spacers. Just over 3800 miles on her.

Just filled up this morning right over the border in Delaware on my way home since it’s like $.30 cheaper than the cheapest local spot and only a few miles away.

14.49mpg :annoyed:....and that last tank I actually filled up with 93 premium just to see...no better than reg so back to reg for me.

4th tank in the low 14’s and yes it has been totally frigid this past month with quite a bit more idling to warm up the truck but damn.. My normal drive is from the suburbs into philly (50/50 highway vs city)and I work nights = colder and obviously driving around the suburbs running errands, picking up the kid, etc.

My best tank ever was 18 mpg for one tank only back in the end of summer. I believe my avg up until this month long deep freeze has been mid to high 16’s..

Granted as I said in the past in the later summer I have seen as high as 21 mpg on my drive to and from work, but the running errands part, and if you add a little more city into the mix mpg goes into the crapper quick.

You guys getting the consistent 21-22mpg per tank, only way I can see that happening is 55-60 mph and flat roads or country roads with not many stop signs or traffic lights and in a more moderate climate? Right?

I will be checking my tire pressure Tomm though.
