That looks crazy fancy. What are the specs? Fully custom or built from what you sent in? I bet it was expensive as hell!!

Is that for real? Man, that overland stuff is really a money making machine. It is so trendy also. Here in AZ there are groups totally dedicated to that stuff. And I bet without a shadow of a doubt that the typical overland rig with all the bling has twice as much money on it as most SAS projects here.

The CV is the only part that was reused for this build the rest is custom. Needed the shaft to be skinny in the middle to clear my link when i fully stuff the drivers side, Jess said the only way to do it was to reverse the splines and run a 1 5/8" spline. Naturally i didn't argue and just asked him to be gentle. he had a days worth of machine work into it and charged me $840. He rebuilt the 1410 CV that does 42 degrees of angle on top of the machine work so im happy. It's a good 20#'s lighter as well. The original slip was only 4 inchs of travel and i needed 5 inchs, this one has 7 1/2 inches of travel.

Anybody been less than impressed after an upgraded steering pump was installed? I finally put my trail-gear pump in yesterday and it honestly does not feel any better than stock. My steering is still very slow when just at or above idle, and it is still very slow when going at higher speeds. Am I just expecting too much?

Hmm that’s not an oversized ram by any means. I run a 1.5x6” and the speed is the same regardless of rpm on a PSC pump. It is way slower than unassisted still though. You don’t get the snappy, one hand flicking the wheel back and forth like you can stock at speed.

I did the same thing (Toyota box, PSC pump, ram, and a finned cooler) and although it made it easier to steer (especially in 4wd where you can steer through a lot of things) it still wasn't the "1 finger" steering everyone talked about. The steering pump just doesnt wine like the stock one did now. Now my dads jeep with the same thing (PSC pump, ram, and a finned cooler) is super sensitive and responsive.

Ditto, steering is not quite 1 finger steering but the biggest difference was steering while locked in the front. Find mine fairly responsive.

You guys don't mention if your running a smaller pulley or if your utilizing the factory pulley? My PSC kit did come with a smaller pulley. And running a decent size resivoir as well right?

I think having a selectable in the front would make a huge difference in response but with the Detroit it still takes some effort to turn. Nothing like before without hydro where my arms would be tired from muscling it around on the trail.

Smaller pulley as well from psc and the larger psc resivoir elevated above the steering pump (mounted infront of the airbox on the core support). I do find that it helps take the stress off of the steering and makes it easier to steer if you are moving ever so slightly. Very rarely will you see me steer without rolling forward or back to some extent .

Anyone have any suggestions on good flexible leaf springs in the rear while adding about 4 inch or so, of lift?

I run All Pro 5" mini truck leafs with a couple of leafs pulled out. Puts me right at 24.5" frame height on 37's. So far I really like them, they control axle movement really well and are a pretty soft spring rate.

Getting the resi well above the pump with all fittings instead of rubber line made a pretty big difference for me. It's hard to do on the 3RZ with hood clearance but I think it shouldn't be bad on a 5VZ truck.

Do the all pros use the factory mounts? Cause I don’t want to redo them at the moment. Lol
